A Human Being JK-4591   1997, Pretoria Central Prison, South Africa. Psychologist Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela prepares to sit opposite the apartheid regime’s most notorious assassin. A Human Being Died That Night is based on the best-selling book by Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela and explores her interviews with Eugene de Kock, her time on the TRC, and how a fundamentally moral person could become a mass murderer. Have you heard about Practice in the Park? It's an annual outdoor yoga fundraising event in Cape Town and I highly recommend you go! 2012 was the first of these large outdoor yoga events in our relatively new and wonderful Green Point Urban Park and drew a crowd of 400.  All proceeds go to the Earthchild Project, one of my favourite NGO's to support. Although I'd love to be on my mat, doing the yoga, I donate my time and photography to capturing this very special event. Practice2013JKK-444 More

I love when my headshot clients change their profile photo on Facebook. They tend to get an onslaught of supportive comments from their family and friends and it is an absolute pleasure to see their beauty and strength celebrated. Ntombi Makhutshi, you are an inspiration, I'm honoured to have photographed you! I wish everyone could have at least 1 photo of themselves that shows how amazing, beautiful and powerful they are.

The Mechanicals Repertory Company are back with 3 plays written by Anton Chekhov.  It is a great pleasure to be in their company again as I began my photography career with them almost exactly four years ago.

The Chekhov season began last night with a deconstructed, modernised and shortened Afrikaans version of  The Cherry Orchard: Die Kersieboord, directed by Sandra Temmingh. A play that despite being written over a century ago, draws many parallels with our lives in South Africa today.

The Fugard Theatre in Cape Town does not only present theatre  written by Athol Fugard. There are a number of fun productions lined up in the upcoming months, including Louis Viljoen's CHAMP, directed by Greg Karvellas, as well as Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror Show, directed by Matthew Wild. But of course there is Fugard. Right now, as Fugard's first Afrikaans play, Die Laaste Karretjiegraf (written with Riana Steyn) ends it's first run in The Fugard Studio Theatre, one of his most well known plays is introducing itself to the rehearsal room. You may have seen a previous production or a film ...

Last week I spent some time with the musicians featured in David Kramer's Kalahari Karoo Blues. Similar to the previous, Karoo Kitaar Blues, this showcase of unique talent is rare and a glimpse into a remarkable part of Southern Africa that most city dwellers would never otherwise experience. "Dit is ’n bruisende, onvoorspelbare viering van die ongelooflike skeppende krag en talent van die mense van Suider-Afrika." Die Burger The musicians have travelled to Cape Town from rural parts of the Karoo and Botswana to showcase their unique talents at the Baxter Theatre.  Music, for most of them, is a hobby and a way to pass the time.

Most of us agree that the choice of music on radio stations in Cape Town is pretty sad. After much frustration and searching the airwaves in my car without cd player, I dial in 104.9fm whenever I can get a signal! Heart fm is known for playing classics and old favourites, perfect for singing along to in the car. Some of you will already know about Clarence Ford's show on a Sunday evening at 6pm. He calls it 'Me Time' and plays classics such as: 'With a little help from my friends' - Joe Cocker 'Moon River' - Andy Williams 'There's a kind of hush' - Engelbert Humperdinck 'Chestnuts roasting on an open fire' - Johnny ...
